This is the story of two people who met under very strange circumstances.
She was in her late 20's, married, mother of a 6 year-old girl, visiting a friend in Washington, DC.
He was in his mid 20's, single, living in DC and.. well. You will know more about them as you read.

Julianne went to DC to visit her childhood friend, Claudia, in a very delicate time. Claudia had been separated from her husband for about 8 months, and her sister, Elena, was also staying there on vacation.

It was saturday night. A few guys went over to Claudia's place before going out to a bar.
Elena was going out with Ted, Claudia had been dating Nate for about a month or so. Neither of these guys were there, but they were close friends to the 5 guys who they went out with.

At some point at the bar, Brent and Julianne got closer, started talking, having fun, shots, all these things she thought were harmless flirting but still felt that could get her in trouble.
After the bar closed everyone went back to Nate's place where Ted also lived.
Julianne, sitting in the back seat with Brent, tells the girls, in Portuguese:
- He is soooo cool! He is so funny! He is like me. He is a male Julianne! I'm in trou-ble!

Everyone sat in the living room to watch tv and talk.
Julianne is a little drunk and very cold. A little too cold in January for a Brazilian girl. So she grabs the first jacket she finds on the floor, asks for a blanket and gets ready to pass out on the couch. Brent sits right next to her and gets a Mr. Bubbles bottle.
- Nutritional values: Purified water, disodium laureth sulfosuccinate, sodium laureth sulfate, cocamide MEA, aloe barbadensis...
- Nutritional values? Do you eat Mr Bubbles?!
Brent knows all about Julianne's "restrictions". But he's drunk, and they're hitting it off, so he gets under the blankets too. Who knows what's going on their crazy heads?!
Things go so fast. All of a sudden Brent makes a move on Julianne who offers no resistance.
They go to Nate's room. And it's already 6:24. But that's ok, cause Brent may have had a little too much to drink for things to get... well.. you know.

A while later they are awaken by Claudia so she and Nate can go to sleep. They put on their clothes and go to the other room where they talk about everything. She talks about her long term plans to finish Law School and go back to the US to study.
Brent, probably just joking asks where he is on these plans. Julianne, as straighforward as usual tells him she made her plans before meeting him.
- Bring Athena here. She can teach me Portuguese! I love 6 year-olds.
- She'll turn 7 soon, you know.

At some point in the late morning hours they end up deciding she's going to his place.
They stop to get bagels and go to his place, where they get on much more comfortable clothes. She's on his sweats and t-shirt eating her bagel.

Julianne was leaving the next day, there was no time to waste or games to play.
They finally make it to his room, where they have amazing sex and fall asleep. At around 4 Brent wakes her up with the excuse that Claudia called, but what he really wants is for her to go on top this time as she had made all kinds of excuses before not to.
And so she does.

She doesn't want to leave, but at some point she has to. So they get directions for Nate's house and exchange e-mails.

Monday night before leaving, Julianne calls him to say goodbye but gets the machine.
"Hi, Brent. I'm calling because I'm about to go back to Atlanta, but I wanted to let you know I had a lot of fun yesterday. Beijo." Or something like that.

And there she goes. As the plane takes off and she looks at the wonderful view over Washington National, she cries, and for the first time she's not even a little bit afraid of flying.
